was really good! don't watch it with your parents!!
i loved it, it was very bizarre at the end but very good. it was very sexual and there is some nudity on statues and you see a girls nipples. i would advise against watching it with your parents, i learned that the hard way. watching this with your parents will be very uncomfortable. there is lots of sexual innuendos, and some guys kissing. it is a movie about a man in drag who entertains people. very good though.

A lot of sexual innuendo but fine for tweens
I loved the rocky horror picture show. However there definitely is some things to worry about for younger viewers, such as the very heavy sexual innuendo, most tweens should be fine with it but if you don't want to have the talk early I would say don't show it to kids under 10. It's also just a matter of liking the movie to. While I like it I'm sure a lot of kids wouldn't because it isn't very, well, current. My mum was also worried about one scene where a character is murdered by an axe, but after I saw it I wondered what all the fuss was about. You don't see it, you don't see the body after, you only see a room covered in extremely not realistic blood.
There's also some naked statues but if you go to an art gallery your bound to see a few of those, and if you choose to watch the movie it's nothing to worry about.

Tim Curry is hot
The most famous cult classic movie of all time, and with good reason, this movie is a testament of deviance. A brilliant message to not be afraid to give yourself over to your own pleasures. Tim Curry's performance is outstanding and reason enough to watch this movie if not for its own merit. The set, actors, and music are all gorgeous.
Know that this movie does have implied sex in it, but never shows anything worse than the silhouette of Tim Curry with Janet then Brad that could cause a sexual awakening in any young viewer. Also many characters are wearing very little clothing in scenes. There's implied cannibalism and an offscreen murder but nothing graphic. This movie encourages expression of gender and sexuality in many forms, which is a good thing for late teens to see on film. All in all a brilliant movie, I hope I'll be able to attend and participate in midnight viewings of it someday.

Great cult classic.
Great music, fun film, and was very progressive for the time (the main reason it was a financial failure once released). To quickly explain something in this film
Transvestite = species
Transsexual = galaxy
Transylvania = planet.
It has heavy innuendos and for this, it, in most countries, has an R (or the countries equivalent) and was even banned in Singapore for a while.
Also, this film is kind of inseparable from the LGBTQ+ community which is something some parent might want to know (I myself am in the LGBTQ+ community).

Like a fever dream
A really weird movie, but quite good. It does have talk of sex, and people in undergarments, but other than that it is fine. The violence is not really existent, but it is explained a murder had taken aplace.

Interesting Movie, Funny but Mature Show
The movie in itself isn't too inappropriate. It's pretty weird and involves a decent amount of sex and violence, none of which is graphic enough to be considered inappropriate.
However, the live show in a theatre with a shadow cast can be extremely inappropriate depending on the cast. It's probably best for ages 18 and up, and parents should go see it before taking their kids. The version of the show I go to see is full of inappropriate jokes (not just sexual jokes, ones that are sexist and racist or political), people wearing very little clothing, and a part of the show where you see silhouettes of people acting out having sex and it's fairly graphic. If you do go, it's a lot of fun and there's lots of audience participation.

Not the best for kids
My sister told me wait a few years when I asked to watch it at age 10, and I'm glad I did. Wouldn't recommend for immature children. But, twas a good movie. References to sex, hardly anything is shown. Crude language, and the theme is literally about the main character building a man for his own "pleasure".

More appropriate than rating suggests
It is a brilliant, fun cult classic musical with 2 scenes that are more adult. No nudity, but you see underwear and lingerie. As long as your child is mature, it should be fine. Mostly innuendo.

A Little Strange - But Hugely Entertaining!
Right off the bat I've contradicted myself - I said the age rating should be 13+ yet I've been watching TRHPS since I was about 6! That being said, I don't think you should give this film to your young child or sibling. I would definitely wait until they're 13 (perhaps 12, but that's pushing it). The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a great film - it's really helped me to come out of my shell and love myself for who I am. I believe that this film could also help other teens to realise that you don't have to go with the flow, that it's a good thing to express yourself and you should reach for the stars and aim to be who you want to be - 'Don't Dream It, Be It!'. Of course, there's many sexual references (and even sex in the film - though you don't actually see it; all you see is the outline of the characters rolling around and stuff). Anyway, I definitely think this is a movie you should watch - even if you've seen it before you should watch it again.

Good for mature people
This movie is great: amazing music, amazing characters and beautiful atmosphere.
It's appropiate for mature teens or for adults, but not for kids.

Confidence Booster
This movie is not the worst thing that could happen to a child. In my opinion it is a fun and safe way to go out and let lose. It can teach your kid having an alternative personality is not bad and can encourage them to be themselves. The movie itself isn't too bad, it's the audience participation that sets the tone. You just have to know if your kid. It's a confidence booster 100%. Also one of the only reasons it is rated R is because in 1973 they did not yet have the PG-13 rating.

Amazing
Its such a good movie! Though I think the age really matters on how much the child knows about sex, or swearing. Though it's not to inappropriate to not be for younger kids.

Classic movie
I first watched it when I was 15 and I loved it. Yes, there are some sexual innuendos and such, but overall it's not that bad. The reason I love this movie so much is because of the songs and the "message." The songs are just so much fun. I love "Time Warp" and just all of them. There's also the theme to just be yourself and that's really good for preteens and teens to see. Overall it's just a fun movie and I would totally suggest it.

It's less age and more maturity
The movie is a classic and amazing. If you read between the lines or lyrics.. the message is very positive and many say it's helped them in life. I don't think there should be a specific age for it it's more of when you're ready for the following: transvestism and homosexuality, minor implied violence (death by axe), a nip slip! And multiple sexual scenes but no nudity. If you don't understand any of that then the movie will just be fun and exciting. My advice is: watch it whenever you're ready because it's freaking amazing!
